S.O.R.A. Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess a valid photo ID issued by the state or federal government and it must have a valid expiration date (i.e., Driver´s License OR US Passport, etc.)
- Must register and possess a Temporary Certificate of Registration as a Security Officer. This registration is issued by the New Jersey State Police. (See STEP 1)
- Must be fingerprinted at a Sagem Morpho agency. (See FINGERPRINTING)
STEP 1: Follow this link to the NJSP site where you will submit the SORA application/registration: https://eapps.njsp.org/applicant/logon.do
STEP 2: Click on FIRST TIME APPLICANT and choose Security Officer Certification as the TYPE OF APPLICATION and create your login and password and then go through the application process. The cost for registration is $75.00, payable at the completion of the application submission. When you complete that, print both the Temporary Certificate and the fingerprint form. Keep the Temp Cert with you whenever you work. The Temporary Certificate allows you to work immediately and is good for 30 days.
STEP 3: After you submit the registration to the NJSP and print the Temp Cert, call our office with the six-digit APP# on the Temp Certificate or fill out the information request on our TRAINING page to have someone from our office contact you. The cost for the class is $150.00, payable by Visa, MasterCard or Discover. You will have to complete the fingerprinting AND the class within the 30-day period, not in any specific order, but prior to the expiration of your temporary certificate.
FINGERPRINTING: Call the number or visit the web site shown on the fingerprint form to make your appointment for the prints and pay the $70.25 over the phone or on the website. If you can’t pay for the fingerprints at the time you make the appointment, call the phone number and tell them you will bring a money order on the day of the appointment. They will then have you fill out the bottom of the fingerprint form with specific information they give you.
